Deokpojin Fort is a military base of the Joseon Dynasty that is installed in Sondolmok, a way to enter Seoul. It was a battleground during Shinmiyangyo and Byeonginyangyo against the Western powers, and then it began to undergo development in 1981. The cannon base and the watchtower are restored, and the Deokpojin Heritage Museum was renewed in 2007.

At the tip of Deokpojin Fort, there is the tomb of a boatman of Goryeo named Sondol. Sondol was the boatman who led the way through water when King Gojong planned to take refuge in Ganghwado Island. The king killed the innocent boatman as a result of being anxious about the harsh stream. However, before he died, Sondol floated a small bowl on the water and advised the king to follow the bowl and told him that it would guide him safely. After his, Sondol passed away. King Gojong followed the boatman’s loyal advice, and after he arrived in Ganghwa, realized his foolishness. He carried out the boatman’s funeral and built a shrine to comfort his soul. Until later Joseon, ceremonies to commemorate Sondol continued, but they were discontinued during the Japanese colonization. In 1970, the ceremonies were resumed. Since 1989, the Gimpo Culture Center has held the ceremony on October 20 of the lunar calendar, which is the memorial day of Sondol.

德浦镇最里面有高丽时代船夫-孙乭之墓。孙乭是蒙古侵入时高丽高宗到江华岛避难时掌舵的船夫。水流湍急而感到不安的高宗斩杀孙乭，而孙乭嘱咐在水上面漂浮瓢子并顺着瓢子就可以顺利到达江华岛之后死去。高宗顺利到达江华岛之后，顿悟自己轻率，厚葬孙乭之后修建祠堂，安抚无辜死去的灵魂。朝鲜时代末为止，一直举办安抚孙乭灵魂的祭祀，但在日帝强占期间被中断，而于1970年开始重新举办祭祀。1989年开始在金浦文化院主管下，在孙乭忌日的阴历10月20日举办镇魂祭。
