The Department of Water was the first water supply facility in Gangwon-do. During the Japanese occupation, it consisted of the water tank and the office to provide water to residents of Cheorwon town, and four waterworks remain in the same place as the time of construction. At that time, there were great water supply facilities to supply water to about 2,500 people in 500 households, and the available amount of water to supply for a day was 1,500 cubic meters.

水道局是江原道内最早的上水道设施。作为在日帝强占期，为了向旧时铁原市区住民供水而设置的储水槽与管理站建筑物，供水设施4座照样遗留在建立当时的位置。当时通过这里供水的人口为500个家庭大约2,500名，每天供水量为1,500立方米，具有很好的上水道设施。

Moreover, about 300 anti-communists were shot to death or buried alive in an6m depth underground water storage tank. Now, it justlooks like the wreckage of a concrete building on the field, but it is theplace of tragedy of the Korean War. It was designated as the No.160 Registered Cultural Property.

但是，这个地方也没能避开6.25战争的痛苦。6.25战争当时，国军北上而共产党后退，被囚禁在劳动党舍与内务署等的人士中反共精神透彻的爱国人士被移送到这个地区。如此被移送的大约300多名爱国人士被枪毙或活埋在地下6米深的储水槽。现在只能看到草丛上建立的混凝土建筑物的残骸，但这里是带着6.25战争伤痕的悲剧的现场。这里在2005年被指定为登录文化祭160号。
